WELCOMING ADDRESS
Dear Colleagues,

If you are interested in the psychosocial aspects of genetics, you are cordially invited to register for the 8th European Meeting on Psychosocial Aspects of Genetics, which, for the first time, will be held during the Annual Meeting of the European Society of Human Genetics (ESHG).

Previous EMPAG meetings have attracted practitioners and researchers (genetic counsellors, psychologists, social workers, clinical geneticists, social scientists and genetic nurses) from across Europe. The EMPAG meeting in Strasbourg will retain its own identity within the larger ESHG meeting, but will also include some sessions organised jointly by the EMPAG and ESHG scientific programme committees, and intended for participants of both meetings.

In addition to plenary and concurrent sessions for EMPAG participants, two sessions have been jointly organised with the ESHG, on:

  • Genetic testing of minors
  • Understanding behavioural aspects of genetic syndromes

Following the success of the session at the Manchester meeting, where participants met in small groups to discuss topics of special interest, a similar session will be scheduled based on the topics represented in the abstract submission.

The meeting will begin at 15.00 on Saturday, 25 May 2002 and end at 17.00 on Monday 26 May.

We sincerely hope to be able to welcoming you in Strasbourg in May.
