| Dear Colleagues, |
 |
It is a great pleasure and honour for me to invite you as president
of the CEOC to Graz after previous highly successful meetings in Bratislava
1996, Budapest 1998, Portoroz 2000, Dubrovnik 2002 and Prague 2004.
The topics for this meeting have been well selected in order to guarantee
an interesting and stimulating discussion.
Minimal invasive techniques in endoprosthetic replacement have drawn
wide attention within our community while several concerns have been
raised during the last years. The discussion about experience and
results with these techniques will help us to come to a more evidence
based approach or at least consensus about these methods.
In contrast to MIS techniques revision of total knee arthroplasty
still has to be done via a conventional approach. Despite significant
progress in prosthetic design the outcome after these revisions do
not compare to revision total hip arthroplasty. Reasons and possible
solutions for improvement will be discussed extensively.
Innovative techniques regarding cartilage repair have been published
extensively and presented at a variety of meetings. Despite the sophisticated
approach the economical pressure will favour solutions which are practical
and applicable in the present medicare situations. This topic should
provide an update on the validity of different current techniques.
Treatment of bone metastases has been performed successfully in a
rather standardized way for many years, however with the introduction
of minimal invasive techniques several modifications in the strategy
of treatment have been introduced which should be compared to standard
palliative procedures in this group of patients, for whom life quality
and minimal invasiveness should have first priority.
Keynote speakers and state of the art lectures will update the current
knowledge in order to enhance the focus of each topic and stimulate
the discussion.
Furthermore an extensive industrial exhibition will provide you with
the newest information regarding products for endoprosthetic replacement
as well as other medical and orthopaedic devices.
The meeting will be held at the Grazer Congress, which is located
in the centre of the city near the pedestrian zone so that you will
also have the opportunity to discover and enjoy the historical part
of the city.
Looking forward to welcoming you here in Graz!
